Steps to Create Egg Carton Pumpkins:

  1. Begin by exploring your outdoor surroundings to find a few small sticks that can serve as pumpkin stems. Break these sticks into smaller, stem-sized pieces.
  2. Carefully cut the egg carton, separating the individual egg containers.
  3. Squeeze some orange paint onto a paper plate.
  4. Use a paintbrush to generously coat each egg carton piece with orange paint.
  5. Set the freshly painted pumpkins aside to dry.
  6. Before the paint dries completely, take either a pair of scissors or the tip of a pen to gently poke a small hole in the top of each pumpkin for the stick stem. Be cautious during this step, as wet cardboard can be fragile.
  7. Once the paint has dried, use Elmer’s Glue to attach googly eyes to each pumpkin.
  8. Insert the small sticks through the holes on top of the pumpkins to create the stems.
  9. Set aside your egg carton pumpkins to allow the Elmer’s Glue to dry.
  10. Decorate your home with these adorable little pumpkin masterpieces.

Egg Carton Pumpkins Crafter’s Tips:

  • If you have access to ivy leaves, consider placing them in the top hole or gluing them to the pumpkin for an added touch of nature.
  • If the holes for the stick stems are too large, you can use hot glue to securely fasten the stems to the pumpkins.

  • For a fun twist, you can create apples instead of pumpkins by using red, yellow, or green paint.
  • Explore your creativity further by painting the pumpkins white to craft friendly ghosts.

Egg Carton Pumpkins Memory Enhancer:

For an extra-special touch, parents can use an Exacto Knife to carve friendly eyes and a mouth into the egg carton pumpkins, rather than using googly eyes. After painting and assembling the pumpkins, place them on top of battery-operated tealights to illuminate your child’s nightstand as they sleep. Please exercise caution and keep tealights away from young children, as button batteries can be extremely hazardous if swallowed. Alternatively, consider inserting a glowstick inside the pumpkin for a safe and glowing effect.

Enjoy this wonderful fall craft with your kids and create lasting memories together!
