  • Silver string for hanging included.

Directions for Christmas Ornaments:

  1. Remove the paper wrappers from the crayons.
  2. Twist the crayons in a pencil sharpener, collecting the shavings in a small bowl. Aim for about half a tablespoon of crayon shavings.
  3. Remove the top from the clear ornament and set it aside.
  4. Use your fingers to gently pinch and drop all crayon shavings into the clear plastic ornament.
  5. For an extra sparkle, add a pinch or two of glitter to the clear ornament.
  6. Put the ornament top back on and secure it shut.
  7. Give the ornament a gentle shake and place it into a plastic Tupperware dish.
  8. Turn on the hair dryer (using the hot mode) and aim it toward the ornament, gently moving the dryer so that the ornament rolls around inside of the dish.
  9. Repeat this process until all the crayon shavings have melted on the inside wall of the ornament.
  10. Set aside to cool, then add a hook for hanging on the Christmas tree.

Crafter’s Tips:

  • If you don’t have a pencil sharpener, you can use a knife to dice crayons or scissors to shave off tiny shavings.
  • For clear glass ornaments, use a plastic Tupperware dish to protect them from breaking.
  • If you lack ornament hooks, twine or ribbon can be used for hanging on the tree.

This is an excellent craft to enjoy with small children. It’s also an opportunity to teach a science lesson about how solids can transform into liquids with applied heat and then revert. Consider gifting these Christmas ornaments to grandparents or other loved ones.

🎄Happy Holiday Crafting!
